more than two years ago, i read about eric’s first encounter with a light field plenoptic camera, and was fascinated by the very idea.
today, i saw a presentation by dave story from adobe (video at the end of the article), in which he talks about their development of a lens that has very similar functions and (i believe) is based on the same principle.
of course, adobe also has the proper photoshop-tools that make it possible to deal with the new load of digital information.

i’ve added a little script to display exif information for my photos.
when available (most of the recently-uploaded ones should be covered), there will be a [show-exif]-link on the single-photo pages.
for an example just, click on the righthand image.
i’m putting together a disc with all the prague photos from three cameras (using exif date changer to add a timestamp to the filenames).
cross-referencing them with my photos, i had to use these values to correct their exif data:
| anna: +1246 days +16 hours +23 minutes |
stefan: -389 days +6 hours -4 minutes |
according to their photos, anna visited prague during christmas 2003, while stefan (a heartfelt IT student) will be there in june 2008. :-)
nice job setting the time & date on your cameras, folks!
i understand why they preset their own screensavers and phone bootup-/goodbye-images, but where is the sense in ruining design?
had to replace my beloved k750i because of several hardware defects, and the new one was software-branded.
in my view, vodafone is depreciating equipment here – they replaced the nice original icons with smaller ones in fashionable red&turquoise, they re-sorted the menus (which really doesn’t make sense! why move the organizer functions from position 0 to 7?? where’s the point in that?), and all the small submenu-icons look almost the same.
great job, vodafone!
if i didn’t loose warranty, i’d have already unbranded it!
[view photos: software-branded phones suck!]
(that is a custom theme, by the way. the original made me wanna throw up.)
just in time for the first december day when i had planned nothing, some technical problems arised, so i wouldn’t get a chance at being bored…
first, i dropped my beloved sony ericsson k750i. it survived, but a spring got loose in the camera slide thingy.
tom has a set of tiny screwdrivers for cellphones, so we dismantled it and put the spring back where it belonged.
we couldn’t find a photo of the correct position on the internet, so i thought i’d post one here: [more...]
in the last few months, i decided to get some upgrades in order to make the digital part of my life …more enjoyable:
digicam: sony cybershot dsc-f828 replaced my f717
the f828 is clearly not an SLR, but i sure have a lot of fun with it.
the only draw back: even though image quality was improved compared to the f717 (the f828 is the first model with a (then-)new type of ccd), there seems to be some extra noise in long exposures…
cellphone: sonyericsson k750i replaced my SE t610
i WUV it! it wakes me up in the morning by playing my favorite mp3-song, it generally plays music out loud whenever i want it to, and it takes ok-quality 2 megapixel photos.
and it has a built in pc-remote-control via bluetooth.
display: samsung syncmaster 710N has been added to my syncmaster 913N
i wanted to get another 913N, but it’s more expensive now than when i bought the first one.
in case you’re wondering: yes, if a brand doesn’t disappoint me, i usually stick with it.
[datei downloaden: firefox googlesearch (2KB)]
in diesem zusammenhang:
