die deutsche version von firefox beinhaltet bei den voreingestellten such-plugins (oben rechts neben der adresszeile) einen eintrag für google.
bei benutzung dieser suche werden aber nur deutsche ergebnisse gelistet – ich finde das ziemlich lästig.
daher habe ich das plugin so angepasst, dass zwar die ergebnisseite noch deutsch ist, die resultate aber unabhängig von der sprache angezeigt werden…
die dateien müssen nur noch in den searchplugin-ordner im firefox-verzeichnis kopiert werden, normalerweise c:/Programme/MozillaFirefox/searchplugins. firefox anschliessend neustarten, und dann müsste die suche verwendbar sein.

in diesem zusammenhang:

• die tastenkombination, um direkt zur suchleiste zu kommen, ist [strg] + [k].
• mit [strg] + [pfeiltaste nach oben/unten] kann man zwischen den suchmaschinen auswählen.
• die reihenfolge der suchmaschinen kann man mit dem tool search engine ordering selbst sortieren, und unerwünschte suchmaschinen dabei gleich löschen.
• noch einfacheres löschen (per rechts-klick) ist mit SearchPluginHacks möglich.

i decided to integrate youtube’s service into the gallery, so now if you see this icon…

…in a gallery, there’s a video hiding behind it (as you may have guessed).

i just thought it would be nice to mix some videos in between photos…

have you ever been annoyed at the strange minimum activation timespan of your t610’s bluetooth function?
i regularly am, after syncing my phone with my pc*.
* check out floAt’s Mobile Agent if you have a sony ericsson cellphone!
if i want to switch it off right after i finish, there’s this stupid “bluetooth is currently busy” message. that just seems illogical, since there’s no connection anymore, and the little icon on the cellphone itself says so too.
on the other hand, while there is actually a connection in use, i can turn it off without any problems…

here’s an easy workaround, if you don’t want to restart your phone every time:

just lock the keyboard (right soft-key, then *),
unlock keyboard again (same combination),
and now you’re able to turn bluetooth off (right soft-key, then 2)

 
i wonder if that bug is still there in newer SE-phones..?

i recently discovered youtube.com – a free internet service that allows easy sharing of videos.
what they do is convert uploaded videos into flash movies, which (almost?) everybody can watch.

university started again, on march 1^st.
finally, i must say, since i’ve been away (from uni) for practically 18 months…

in other news, i just plugged in a tiny script that lets me highlight photos in the gallery.

last week, i decided to upgrade my computer setup and replaced my 19″ crt

with a samsung tft display via amazon: the SyncMaster 913N

it arrived two days later, and i’m really happy with it:
it’s huge (19″ TFT), bright (300 cd/qm), fast (8ms response time), a good viewing angle (160/160) and really space saving, compared to my 19″ crt.
 

however, today i found a stuck pixel. looks like in one pixel, blue and green are constantly off.

wikipedia says that sometimes you can fix the problem by “gently rubbing the screen in an attempt to reseat the pixel”, or flashing bright colors on your screen.

for the later, there’s a link to a sourceforge project called “stuck pixel sweeper”. since rubbing the screen didn’t help, i’ll probably try that tomorrow.
 

i will still try to have my tft replaced, but that probably won’t work out. i’ll keep you updated on amazon’s response and the pixel sweeper effects, though.

lately, i made intensive use of the windows file-search.
and while i generally keep the search windows open for some time, i loose concentration because the stupid dog makes scratching noises all the time!

no doggy, that’s a bad doggy! :mad:
