there’s a whole bunch of photos waiting to be uploaded – here’s a quick preview:

i just woke up after a sound 19-hour sleep, following an exhausting prolonged weekend.
that should make up for the last few sleep-depriving weeks…
somebody (not pointing fingers) has turned me into an exercise junkie.
everytime i get home from, say jogging, all i can think is “i want to go again. right now.”
my newest hobby: biking through muddy puddles after heavy rainfalls.
after all, growing older is mandatory, but growing up is optional.
greetings from obergurgl/austria (1930m above sea level), where lots of biologists have gathered to document the biologic diversity.

calvinia, south africa – 6.000 residents

memo to self: starting to work on a presentation less than 24 hours before i’m supposed to present it is not optimal.
on the other hand, it worked out …which means my subconcsiousness will probably file this as a success and try to further reduce time and effort, next time.
i’m involved with many things in university, so a lot of professors know who i am. to be honest, i don’t even know who some of them are.
recently, there have been several situations like these1:
me: hi! my name is markus nolf. i signed up for your class, and i have a question regarding …
professor: oh right, i saw your name on the list. (among the 50+ others who signed up!)
here’s one of the downsides of being well-known to your lecturers: in class, whenever nobody answers a “question to crowd”, they tend to ask somebody directly. and usually it’s somebody they can address by name…
