in another burst of short-term-ness, nadja, günter, fabio, lorenz, andi and i decided to spend easter monday in the car.
well, not just in the car – in the car, on our way through south-tyrol.
(unfortunately, andi didn’t feel too good, so he couldn’t go)

imagine a complete day of latent ambiguity and continuous equivocalness.

the route was set like this: innsbruck – brixen – salurn – bozen – meran – naturns (chapel of st. prokulus) – reschen – innsbruck.

because somebody (err… ok, it was me) overslept, we had to skip salurn. but we wouldn’t have had time for it anyway, since we lost 30 minutes due to my lack of sleep, skipped salurn (=saved at least an hour) and still arrived 1.5 hours late in innsbruck.

in brixen we had a nice, sunshiny breakfast at the cathedral square. and although we were just about an hour away from home, we had a considerable amount of fun with …dialect differences.

    english: kaisers/rolls >> german/innsbruck-tyrolean: semmel >> south tyrolean: semmarlan

afterwards we drove down to bozen and strolled around for some time, taking fun touristy pictures and had lunch in one of the very few restaurants that were open…

meran was a little crowded, but nice. taking pictures of “arches” would be one of the nonsensical highlights. LOL
we1 (all of us) also found meran’s nice little protestant church where we2 (nadja, fabio, markus) decided to sing some songs.

unfortunately we had to skip naturns, and its tiny and very old st. prokulus chapel (german link), but we were short of time…

we did make a quick stop at the village schluderns, where we had some extra fun.
we obscured some letters on their place name sign and created “luder” (german for hussy), jokingly pointing at nadja.
the best part about it was that suddenly there was a huge column of cars driving past us and watching us take that picture…

our final stop, reschen, is interesting as well: about 50 years ago a whole village was perished (after the inhabitants were relocated some 100 meters uphill) when a new storage lake was created. today, the original church’s spire is still sticking out of the huge lake.

nearly 12 hours later we arrived back in innsbruck.

for pictures, check back in a week or two. i’m waiting until we have them exchanged, so i can post the best ones.

currently, there’s not much “present” going on in my life.
a lot of “past” though, and even more “future”…

because i’m usually not willing to disclose anything in the future that isn’t 100% certain (probably in an attempt to compensate for all the people who talk and talk and never do what they say), here’s a little summary of my “current past”:

at paradise beach / kos i’ve been confronted (in a good way) with the pictures of our graduation trip to kos/greece (summer 2003), recently. somehow i still can’t believe how much fun we had together.

because i have stored the pictures of kos in the same folder as the pictures of our last official school day, i was compelled to watch these, too. shortly after, i found myself searching for the pictures of our school-trip to venice in october 2002 (one of them is posted already).

i’ve picked three images from those past three events to show here. i know it’s not much, but i like them.

and then, when i was sorting out a LOT of cd’s that were lying around, i stumbled across the one that niki and i recorded back in borg (equals high school). niki is great at jamming, so we did lots of variations of what we were actually supposed to play during borg piano lessons. i don’t know how it came, but one day we recorded some of the songs on our teacher’s dat-recorder – it even was a day off school!

[die deutsche version dieses eintrags ist weiter unten]

we are now renting out our new vacation apartment in spain.
it’s located just outside of denia, right between alicante and valencia (map).

for a weekend project (a week ago), i’ve implemented a small, informative …booklet.
unfortunately for those of you who don’t speak any german (again), it’s only written in my native language: suaheli german.

you can still go there, enjoy the nice pictures of our facilities and get some german information on our vacation home in denia!

tom and sandra returned from spain a few days ago, so there will be some more pictures up (on the denia-page) in a few days.

first of all, here’s a little related mini-post that wasn’t really worth posting solely:

got the tickets! three railway tickets to budapest, gonna be fun!
what’s strange is that the only song i wanted to listen after i paid was “dido – don’t leave home”.
    ironic?

now here’s the actual post:

14-02-2005 @ 14:21
what can i say – it *was* fun!
we left innsbruck thursday night around 02:30. maybe going there in a saloon coach wasn’t the best way to travel, but it was bearable. except for that scruffy old hungarian woman, who talked to herself in the pitch of a witch and her dog. :???:

so anyway – when we arrived in hungary we dropped out of the train one station early because we could see our hotel from there directly. leaving one station early turned out to be a natural instinct, by the way. i think we should call it “markus’ law”, abutting “murphy’s law”. for the following days, i ALWAYS wanted to get out one station early, thinking that was the proper bus stop/metro station.
at least now i have a little heads-up for fall 2005…

[posted: Sunday, 2004-11-28] [category: general, photo, travel]

since my grandmother is on holidays in turkey this week, she lent me her car. *happy*
today i thought i should use it to full capacity, but i didn’t know where to go.
so i thought “what the heck, let’s go to grimms”. now, since i just made the name up that moment, grimms isn’t anywhere near a real (german) word…
but map24.com said that there’s a village called “krimml”, and that’s a nice compromise. especially since there’s a cascade in krimml, and a storage lake nearby, and the road leads up to 1600m and down again – so lots of different sceneries.

my little brother decided he was going with me, so we set out to krimml at 11:30. tom’s gps route planner did an amazing job! it’s so nice if somebody tells you what to do all the time…

we had a lot of fun while driving there, took some pictures, and went back again (with lots of short stops for photos). total driving time: 3 hours. total trip time: about 3 hours and 30 minutes.

the only thing that’s annoying when you’re driving is that you can’t use your camera. there was a lot of stuff i would have liked to take pictures of, but i had to concentrate on the road and there was no place to stop… well, anton took some for me!

anyway: thank you granny! (although you’re most likely not going to read this)

here’s some pix:

i was going through some photos from “high school” (BORG, actually) with nadja tonight.
now i have lots of good memories evoked…

i felt like posting a picture from back then: it was taken on our class trip to venice, sept. 25/26th 2002. we decided to take pictures with strangers

(the photo shows clemens and me with two pretty surprised asian tourists at piazza san marco)
