i just had to look up a word in a hardcover dictionary, because dict.leo.org seems to be offline.
haven’t flicked through a paper dictionary in …ages.

view of the valley

i wanted to write how today (in the morning) i was reminded of my kakapo experience in new zealand, and (in the evening) of that special hike to lake tagimaucia on taveuni .
i wanted to upload a few impressions from scheffau and the region south of the “wild emperor” (wilder kaiser) mountains.
i wanted to talk about the coolness of time dilatation and its role in (microbat) ultrasound recording.
i wanted to complete this sen… .

by now, i’m too tired for any of this.

update 2008-06-13: imagine little check marks next to the first two sentences. ;-)

never clean your car’s windshield while driving closely by a pedestrian.
when i learned this lesson a few days ago, i was jogging along the side of the road.

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy has a few things to say on the subject of towels.
A towel, it says, is about the most massively useful thing an interstellar hitchhiker can have. …

tom and i, towel day 2008

… Partly it has great practical value – you can wrap it around you for warmth as you bound across the cold moons of Jaglan Beta; you can lie on it on the brilliant marble-sanded beaches of Santraginus V, inhaling the heady sea vapours; you can sleep under it beneath the stars which shine so redly on the desert world of Kakfrafoon; use it to sail a mini-raft down the slow heavy river Moth; wet it for use in hand-to-hand combat; wrap it round your head to ward off noxious fumes or avoid the gaze of the Ravenous Bugblatter Beast of Traal (a mindboggingly stupid animal, it assumes that if you can’t see it, it can’t see you – daft as a brush, but very very ravenous); you can wave your towel in emergencies as a distress signal, and of course dry yourself off with it if it still seems to be clean enough.
From: The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, Douglas Adams

considering that douglas adams had the idea for the book in innsbruck, it’s a must for his austrian fans to pay tribute…

(i almost missed it. thanks to matt for reminding me.)

looking for a piece of information, just misread “read episode recap” for “read episode crap”.

read episode crap/recap

i guess the current attitude does have a big impact on ones perception (especially things like freudian slips). i also guess i should call it a day.

to give you an idea of how much fun i’m currently having, please look at this picture:

glyoxylate cycle
simplified scheme of the citrate and glyoxylate cycles (source: wikipedia)

i’ve been spending the past two days with the citrate and glyoxylate cycles, the respective structural formulas, and other related things.
there’s no end in sight.
