typical costa rican dinner: casado. rice, beans, fried plantains/bananas, and grilled fish/meat/cheese.
leaves of the coffee plant (coffea sp.) have little housings (domatium) for symbiotic mites which keep the leaves clean.
lunch: gallo pinto (rice and beans), fried bananas and meat w/ onions. it tasted a lot better than it looks.
the effects of somebody shouting “bird!” were instantaneous and completely independent of our current location or bus speed.
