a glimpse of down under

in heimatseeker’s “Reason # 47 to move to New Zealand” she states that a google-search for “bush coronation” (“bush krönung”, in german) returned 145.000 results on january 20th.

it’s 175.000 by now – my site adding another search result ;-)

“have i started “excessively” using quote signs?”
“i “think” so!”

when i heard “happy new year” over and over again two weeks ago, i didn’t really take it litteral, but

2005 kicks ass!

although i’m super-busy, i’m feeling great.
and it’s been some time…

photo statistics, older photos

the “serial number” naming-system of my camera was reset last night.
that means i’ve now taken over 10 000 pictures in 1.5 years.

the new time-lapse function sure takes a lot of pictures, but on the other hand, after the first month (when i was still in the US) i reset the counter – that would probably call it even.

having said that, i noted that there are still some photo-sessions that haven’t been uploaded yet.
i’m working on it – starting now:

time-lapse, part 1

after some time playing around with the new radio remote control for my sony dsc-f717 (jg-rc2), i’m ready to post some time-lapse results.

i feel like there’s a whole new dimension opening up for exploring and documenting.
it’s usually taking a lot of “don’t touch”-time to record time-lapse images, so i’m kind of limited by my own need to take other pictures. but still, i’m already thinking of other themes and subjects to do – gonna be fun!

the following files are still little projects i did for finding the correct settings.
they’re in .avi-format, you’ll need the latest xvid-codec to play them. (i recommend using ffdshow – direct link, it’s a bundle of all codecs…)
see “more” / “blah blah” for video details.

the 9 types

[posted: ]  [0 comments]

i just followed a link from a site that i found through a link…
… and landed at www.9types.com

so i took the test, which was kind of hard to do.
about a year ago, i changed a big part of my general attitude. i made some decisions that would change the way i’d live my life. so i took it twice – once for what i would have answered a year ago, and one for the current episode of my life, but they didn’t turn out that differently: my current state is just more polarized.

the “currently”-outcome says i am

“Type 5: The Thinker. The perceptive, cerebral type. The Observer”

the test runs on points per answer, and my highest score (12) is three times the second score (ergo 4 – wow, that matrix movie really had a linguistic impact ). so it’s a pretty significant rank.
it didn’t really shake me, but the following lines, taken from the description pages for Type5s hit the mark:

How to Get Along with Me
Help me to avoid my pet peeves: big parties, other people’s loud music, overdone emotions, and intrusions on my privacy.

The preoccupations of Point Five include:
    Privacy.
    Overvaluing of self-control.
Compartmentalizing. Commitments in life are kept separate from one another. One box per commitment. Time Limit for each box.
An attentional style of focusing on life and oneself from the point of view of an outside observer

WOW! this is exactly me!

(let’s just forget for a moment that one of the biggest intrusions on my privacy is …my own blog. and one of the strongest forces against my compartmentalizing is …my own blog. go, me!)

dns changes

[posted: ]  [0 comments]

now that’s what i call a smooth transition:

18:00 setting dns-entries for http and mail on new dn-server
    18:00 – 21:30 something else to do.
21:30 entering new dns address at the domain name administration page
21:31 new domain name servers already in use and up to date.

everything instantly worked. if there’s something i missed, please tell me!
