i hate curious strangers! especially curious old women!

i’m looking for an office (within the building that i’m standing in) and ask somebody for the way. and the older woman behind her first tells me she doesn’t know where it is AND starts asking questions: "what do you want to do there anyway?"

since i apparently show a lack of "spontaneous direct unkindness", she had all the answers she wanted within a short time. seems like i’ll need to have a standard "WHO THE FCUK ARE YOU? THIS DOESN’T CONCERN YOU!"-answer available for those situations.

there are a few wardrobe malfunctions that i recently took care of:

  • i discovered that the picture-popup window is misplaced on mac computers (interestingly, that happens in safari as well as firefox!).
the javascript that resizes and relocates the window has been disabled for mac users now.
  • i’ve finally straightened out the stupid css/font-setting that (amongst other things) makes "cl" look like a "d" on some pages. looks like i’ll have to sort my css-sheet sometime - it’s pretty chaotic...
  • the blog’s categories are now sorted by name. i was annoyed at the chronological sorting...

unfortunately i don’t quite know how to correct the firefox misinterpretation on the categorized gallery. the submenu is meant to be just one line high (like MSIE interprets it), but the select-box is for some reason inflating it...

this timeframe’s lyrics quote is kind-of hard to write down, since it’s an instrumental irish song :???:
and although there are background singers, doing long AH’s, i’ll leave the lyrics part empty:

[lyrics quote of the moment]

the corrs - erin shore

i’m talking about the "forgiven, not forgotten"-special edition they did. in this version, they have a very special centerpiece. when the flutes and harp are introduced in the main-voice intermission, i feel like i’m in wonderland.
maybe this is because i’ve played a little too much "heroes of might and magic", but it really sounds magical!
the percussion (reminding me of stomp a lot) that follows has a very exciting/motivating impact on me.
and besides, it’s a traditional irish tune - and i love almost every one of them!

we are now renting out our new vacation apartment in spain.
it’s located just outside of denia, right between alicante and valencia (map).

for a weekend project (a week ago), i’ve implemented a small, informative ...booklet.
unfortunately for those of you who don’t speak any german (again), it’s only written in my native language: suaheli german.

you can still go there, enjoy the nice pictures of our facilities and get some german information on our vacation home in denia!

tom and sandra returned from spain a few days ago, so there will be some more pictures up (on the denia-page) in a few days.

the msnbot has practically always been browsing and catalogueing my homepage, in a very intensive way.

my first record is from the time when version 0.11 was surfing around (about three days after i activated the advanced log):

first of all, here’s a little related mini-post that wasn’t really worth posting solely:

got the tickets! three railway tickets to budapest, gonna be fun!
what’s strange is that the only song i wanted to listen after i paid was "dido - don’t leave home".
    ironic?

now here’s the actual post:

what can i say - it *was* fun!
we left innsbruck thursday night around 02:30. maybe going there in a saloon coach wasn’t the best way to travel, but it was bearable. except for that scruffy old hungarian woman, who talked to herself in the pitch of a witch and her dog. :???:

so anyway - when we arrived in hungary we dropped out of the train one station early because we could see our hotel from there directly. leaving one station early turned out to be a natural instinct, by the way. i think we should call it "markus’ law", abutting "murphy’s law". for the following days, i ALWAYS wanted to get out one station early, thinking that was the proper bus stop/metro station.
at least now i have a little heads-up for fall 2005...

before i leave to budX (cnn’s city code for budapest - i like it!), i would like to announce that my good friend andi has released his new website:

www.designguide.at

www.designguide.at has all the information you need for designing logos, starting at basics like "training your creativity" and "making primary conceptions", to all the "technical" stuff you need to know.
(unfortunately for those of you, who don’t speak german, it’s in german only.)
