you know how many chips are in a usual 200g-package?
just about enough to crackle and rustle for the whole busdrive from innsbruck to rum without seeming *not* greedy.

how about something else now?
i’m sure you know the phenomenon that cats always land on their feet and jam&bread always lands on the jam-side… the guys over at www.izetit.de did an experiment on how to equiponderate the two basic physical laws (link)
other projects include trying to find out

  • the distribution of letters in alphabet soup (link),
  • how much fizzling is inside carbonated beverages (link),
  • how much aluminum-foil is needed to wrap up a car (link), and
  • the ratio of cars and skin in a playboy magazine (link)

those people are truly creative!

unfortunately, you probably won’t get the secondary jokes because the whole site is in german only…

but let me translate this for you: when eating alphabet soup, try avoiding the combination a, c (2), e, g, i, l, r (2), s, t, u – it leads up to gastric ulcer.

here’s a link that i found over in new zealand: (b)link
there’s so much potential in advertisements, it’s unbelievable how the bulk of them can still be that boring… isn’t it much more effective to create funny videos that everybody wants to watch?

in a completely unrelated subject: i was just reminded of that one episode called water park (1) of the show “malcolm in the middle”: the family goes to a water park without dewey, whose babysitter suffers from a heart-attack after dancing to abba’s song “fernando”, and dewey starts chasing after a balloon and ends up somewhere in chinatown…

i even found the dancing scene online:
[get the video] wmv, 3,28 MB

(did i mention i don’t take responsibility for external hyperlinks? well, just in case…)

i just stumbled across this headline in an agricultural magazine (for work):

“Josefi Ausstellung in Tuntenhausen
(st. joseph fair in fag-ville)

another village that will never have a song written about it.
(referring to that “whose line is it anyway”-episode)

noted down yesterday, 2005-03-15 16:45:

isn’t it wonderful – you’re standing at the train station and are listening to “mozarts piano concerto #25″, and just when the final solo is about to begin, an unbelievably loud train goes by and isn’t gone until right before the end of what should have been the solo…

minor linguistic challenges: when asked if i knew the ticket-fee for a trainride, i responded “i don’t know, i never take the *bus*.”
later, when i got home, i said “and for *postage*, i paid …” (i was, of course, referring to my trainride again)…

i joined my parents in watching the opening ceremony of the world-famous vienna opera ball for some minutes, because …well, they had all the pistachios.

so anyway: one of the moderators just talked about the flower arrangements, and he said something like “and those who have advanced botany knowledge, like me, will recognize the beautiful anthurium flowers”. he didn’t stress out “like me” right after knowledge, but it clearly was his point.

now, what the self-proclaimed “professor of botany” doesn’t know is: anthurium looks *a little* different from the flowers that were actually shown: strelitzia reginae, a.k.a. bird-of-paradise flower.

and besides, what makes the viennese ball so famous? it’s just a typical ball, isn’t it?
and who the whell would pay 16.000 € (SIXTEEN THOUSAND euros) to be in a loge?

i can’t believe i forgot to publish this post from early january:

do you think my doctor is trying to tell me something?

isn’t prescribing “retard”-capsules a little too manifest?

maybe i should stop asking every doctor i come across stuff that i always wanted to know.
you know, the kind of questions that make doctors go “hmmm, i’m not sure. [long silence here] maybe, it’s because …”

lately, when i told my mom something medical, she asked “did you ask the doctor or did she tell you herself?”. but it was more of a rhetorical question, because the answer was pretty obvious…
